Eating sushi during pregnancy?
I know you not supposed to have seafood, smoked fish or another during pregnancy. I since there was become pregnant (almost 5 months). But I love sushi and I'm thirsty and my favorites are rolls and rolls of spicy tuna Philadelphia, but I know that those who are totally out in question because they smoked or raw. But I am worried about other types of sushi and California rolls and small rolls catapillar cucumber roll (cooked eel) and other sushi?
In North America, doctors often suggest that pregnant women abstain from eating sushi due to risks of parasitic contamination and bacteria. As for eating cooked food, the response of thumb is that if you make sushi itself, must be safe, but it may be safer to eat California roll at a restaurant that eating raw tuna there. The problem is cross-contamination. If a contaminated fish is cut with the same knife, or placed in the same area the California roll, then turn the oven will be contaminated. My wife and I struggled with this issue during their pregnancies and found two solutions. The first was simply asking the chef (Itamae Sushi), using a clean knife and a different surface to the lists of others. We used and are comfortable with this question, and when told I was pregnant, they were happy to oblige our request. We ate sushi a lot during your pregnancy:) The second solution would be to make sushi at home. This may seem a daunting task, but it is surprisingly easy and fun. In fact, you can find detailed instructions for making sushi at home: You http://www.sushifaq.com/howtomakesushiathome.htm You can further refine information on health and safety issues sushi http://www.sushifaq.com/sushi-and-health.htm As to what may still want to eat California rolls are an excellent choice as well as other items such as cooked Unagi maki (eel roll), and various tempura rolls are often available (mmm, roll shrimp tempura). If you make sushi at home, greatly expand your options and you can make any roll you want, for example, cooking salmon and cook salmon that have and avocado rolls (actually pretty good, especially when still warm). Use your imagination. Good luck! Warren
