Even the wine and champagne were available to us at any time and, unlike most of the mini-bar, which came at no additional cost.

MacCallum House

When you go to Mendocino for the first time, this landscape of northern California Marina just reaches out and touches your spirit. Perched on a hill overlooking the vast Pacific, Mendocino is a great city - you can imagine is a fishing village in New England look. The city has a mixture of Cap - Home and Building Code Historical making it almost seems a matter of the city. The windswept trees, grassy hills and cliffs are footsteps from the village through various miles of coastline trails are perfect for hiking and photography. Below are secluded beaches and rugged, and rocky coasts.

We stayed in the suite above Barn, a unit of the second floor of a building in the garden of the house main. It is the largest room in the house MacCallum and enjoy ocean views. The unit has a private terrace and a fireplace Stone, minibar, refrigerator and a large lounge, plus bed, bath and kitchen. The furniture is usually old or older approach.

Of course, dinner at MacCallum House is a large part of the offer, and luckily we chose for dinner, plus breakfast, which normally comes with your room. Both meals were well below expectations. Whispering Pines Lodge

These people who grew up on TV westerns like Bonanza feel they went right at Ponderosa to take time in northern drive from the City of Bakersfield to Kernville. There westerns good reason: hundreds of television and movies have been filmed nearby.

We have spent Kernville few nights in a place that could be considered an "investigation". While most households in the city seems more typical Motel units stayed in one of three houses in the city, the country house Whispering Pines. The Whispering Pines is a series of buildings with wooden frames, each with several independent units. Our room was well appointed for a house that felt like I was in the Desert of modern cedar and oak furniture, a king size bed, double sink in the bathroom, hardwood floors, framed paintings and flowers placed strategically around the excessive size of the room. The curtains opened to reveal a view of the river forest, deck with table and chairs and, of course, a vision beaten Scenic Kern River.

The constant noise of the river reminds us of a river cabin once belonged to us and that only reinforced the feeling that we had really escaped from the city. Center Kernville perhaps only a quarter mile away, but it felt like we were trapped in the cabin of our own remote mountain. It is ideal to relax - or simply reading a good book - and also liked the way local trails.

After a restful night, we discovered one more reason that the Whispering Pines fills quickly on weekends for breakfast item that is served buffet style, every day of the week. Bed-and-breakfast seems to range from those offering a little bread and a cup of coffee to those who are bitten in the quality and quantity of food they have. The Whispering Pines falls into the latter category with its bacon, sausages, eggs, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, quiche, fruit, bread, juice and coffee served fresh tasty in an environment that encourages them to go back and fill your plate.
